Dav Pilkey is a celebrated American author and illustrator of children’s literature, best known for creating the Captain Underpants series and the Dog Man graphic novels. Born on March 4, 1966 , in Cleveland, Ohio , Pilkey grew up in a creative and supportive family. Early Life and Education As a child, Pilkey struggled with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and dyslexia , which made traditional schooling challenging. His hyperactive nature often got him into trouble, and he was frequently sent out of the classroom. During these times, he channeled his energy into drawing and creating stories. He even invented Captain Underpants during his second-grade classroom timeouts. Despite these challenges, his passion for storytelling and art flourished.
